The February Update
New in gems from your favourite stores
If you’re new here - and lots of you are - thank you for joining me. (Although if you’re an OG, thank you too!) At the start of every month I edit the best new in gems from across the most popular retailers, so you don’t have to spend hours scrolling! I’ve spent 25 years on magazines and newspapers editing product into shoots and stories and my taste and curation has been honed to be truly trustworthy.
Once I’ve scoured the internet, each star piece makes it onto the pages of My3Words.co - my shopping platform - which is where I curate those new in goodies into 12 edits, which reflect the 12 most popular adjectives women in the UK use to describe their style.
If you know your words, you can skip straight to your favourite section (of course you may identify with a synonym or something far more esoteric than ‘classic’ so don’t feel bound by the twelve) but below I’ve also pulled together my personal favourites, the best of the best, if you will.
Oh, and one other thing… did you see Twiggy in the new Burberry campaign? Iconic. The absolute epitome of ageless style. Do you agree?
I’ve been sad to see LKBennett and Russell & Bromley head into liquidation this week, although I’m hopeful they will have a Jaeger-style turnaround... This Jaeger jacket is a beauty, slick quality and worth it’s price tag, which is how the best Brit brands should be. Jacket, £250, Jaeger
I’ve written many times about how a denim dress will become a staple in your wardrobe. You can obviously choose whatever specific style aligns to your own taste, but I love the idea of wearing this over a white shirt (did you read Friday’s catwalk styling tips story?) It works for smart occasions and with a chunky cardi for the weekend. Dress, £50, Marks & Spencer
Baskets are a no-brainer accessory for summer but they can bring a levity to heavier winter outfits, due to the weave, and particularly if you choose a colour pop shade. This shape fits all your essentials, too. Bag, £1395, Anya Hindmarch
I do not advocate stock-piling or over-shopping however, if you know you regularly have a certain occasion to dress for which requires an LBD it can be worth grabbing a good one when you do see it. This is a wear forever style in a chic, heavy silk twill. Dress, £470, Loulou de Saison
In the way that a bright bag will uplift winter outerwear, so can holiday-vibe jewellery. Wear this necklace with everything from shirts to chunky knits for a shot of joy. Necklace, £305, Lizzie Fortunato
When I speak to my personal styling clients, so many women just want to feel contemporary when they’re casually dressed. I find that the quickest way to do this is to find an updated denim silhouette - barrel jeans are The One. Honestly, they work for every body shape and I’ve recommended them across shapes, sizes and silhouettes. They are high at the waist, giving definition, fitted through the thighs (so they don’t add bulk) and tapered over the rest of the leg giving a lengthening illusion. Genius. And cool. Everyone who tries them is a convert and you will be too. Jeans, £38, Marks & Spencer
